On behalf of the Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce (MBCC) and in celebration of our 5th Year Anniversary, we would like to invite you to our Sankofa Black Business Awards Gala, presented by General Motors Corporation, which will be held at Motor City Casino in Detroit Michigan, Friday November, 18, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Sankofa Black Business Awards Gala is the premier African American business event of the year, highlighting Michigan’s most successful entrepreneurs and progressive leadership.This year, we are proud to announce the honoring of O'Neil D. Swanson of the Swanson Funeral Home as the Sankofa Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient. O'Neil D. Swanson is a pioneer in the field of the mortuary science, constantly raising the level of excellent service and support to the community. Today he, along with the entire Swanson family and staff continues to provide that same kind of personal and compassionate support to the community.
We are also honoring Mr. Roy Roberts as Sankofa Living Legacy, Kym Worthy and Ronna Romney as Political Advocates of the Year, Lewis and Munday as Black Business of the Year, Sharon Madison as Black Woman Entrepreneur, Anika Jackson as Next Generation of the Year, Chris Genteel and Google Corporation as Corporation of the Year, Mel Farr Posthumous Award Honoree of the Year and Dr. Michael Eric Dyson as the keynote. What an exciting group of awardees!
The African American business community represents more than 79,000 black-owned businesses in Michigan.
